Danga and the secret of the pharaoh – Comic

The Aka Pygmies are a people known and appreciated throughout the world for their songs and dances. One of theirs, an ancestor, lived at the court of a pharaoh circa 2300 BC. His life inspired a comic strip from the eponymous novel Le Pygmée et Le Pharaon, originally published in French.

Torn from his native land, Danga the Pygmy succeeded in becoming a courtier at Memphis’s Palace during the reign of Pharaoh Neferkare-Pepi II. Witness to a period teeming with conquests of new lands, trade activities and discovery trips of which Egypt is at forefront, he recounts his tumultuous adventures started from Nubia (central Africa) to Memphis the capital of Egypt.

Author: Carlos MBETI, anthropologist, studied at University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis ; he lives in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France.
